Syncing Palm with Yahoo's Intellisync

I had been using Intellisync with the Palm Zire for many years. Unfortunately, the Zire died recently and I bought a new T|X model Palm. When I tried to sync the TX, I received an error message indicating:

"A conflict in the installed conduits has been detected. This is caused when two different conduits are using the same PIM data type (e.g., Address Book vs. Contacts). To allow synchronization to proceed, use the Hotsync Custom dialog to change one set of conduits to 'Do Nothing'."

After some trial and error, I was able to resolve this by going into the Hotsync manager custom dialog, as indicated, and set the following to 'Do Nothing'. I also set the default for each of these to 'Do Nothing':
  • Contact
  • Tasks
  • Memos
  • Calendar
In the Intellisync/Setup/Application Settings section, I have all of them except for notebook syncing to the Palm handheld.

This solved the problem but another was soon introduced. When syncing the address book, I would get an error saying "Unable to write or update application". It turned out the problem here was due to the field mapping options. To fix this, I went into the Setup/Application Settings section of Intellisync and then chose "advance settings" from the Configure drop down box. At the next screen, I clicked on the 'Field Mapping' button and reviewed all the settings. I found one at the end that mapped 'Comment' to 'Note'. Not recalling seeing any note field in my address book, I removed this mapping and the Hotsync worked fine after that.
