The Behringer V-AMP 2 is an amp modeler with 24-bit, studio-quality stereo effects including chorus, tremolo, compression, noise gate, delay, and more. It's a great product and use it with headphones to play guitar at night without disturbing the wife and children.
A while back, the V-AMP started giving me problems. The volume was inconsistent - on some setting the volume would be so low you could hardly hear it and on others it was loud. The preset sounds didn't seem to be working right and it often sounded muddy.
I finally got around to researching this some more and found that the problem was a dead battery. It turns out the battery is very easy to replace. Just remove the screws on the bottom of the unit and remove the back. The battery can be easily (and carefully) pried out. Replace it with a 3v lithium 2032 battery - it's one the flat kind. In case you forget to notice, the battery goes in with the positive side facing up.
The last step is to restore the presets by either restoring them from a stored library via midi or reset to the factory settings. To reset the unit, hold down the 'D and E' buttons while powering it up. The letters 'CL' will then appear flashing in the display. Release the D and E buttons and then press the two arrow keys at the same time (the bank down, bank up keys).
The v-amp should now be back to normal.

Thank you, this was very helpful:)
hi, i changed the batery but nothing happens, its the same problem, when i turn my vamp 2 off, i lsot everything i saved
hello, when i turn of my vamp2, i lost every patchs i had saved :/// i changed the 3v battery, but nothing happened,
when you use the method above, it's going to reset all of your sounds back to the factory defaults. You will lose everything that you have CREATED unless you took specific notes on each soundbank you adjusted or created. in the future, before you reset to factory default, go to each letter within each bank that you have adjusted and write down the settings you have created. Then reset.
Hello there,
I have a V-amp2 and have always loved it! Now suddenly it has stopped working!
I have replaced the battery and still nothing! All the right lights come on when starting up but I have no output! no sound at all. Perhaps something broke inside?
what should I do? Is this something anybody has come across before? Please help, Very much appreciated.

Hi Jon, I'm having the same problem. Could you solve it?
Hi,
I have the same problem too. An error code seems to be displayed. (04)
Any idea?
Hey guys same here. Nice led lights nut no sound from either left or right output and normal or auxiliary input. The Vamp turned to an optical effect.
Actually could it be an issue coming from the power supply like a broken tip or something like that?
For me it was a broken pin of the adapter - the power supply. The display would show nicely but sound would not come out.
Thanks! Had an old unit that I was going to throw out. Replaced the battery and now it works like new. I will now give it to a friend.
Me too - I'd already bought a replacement effects unit and was just about to throw the V-Amp 2 out when I read this post. Replaced the battery and whaddaya know - back to working perfectly again. Still, I've ended up with the excellent Digitech RP360 as a replacement which I'm more than happy with.
Good post - mine suffered a complete lack of sound and turned out to be a bent pin in the power supply. Thanks esp to Konstantinos
Me again, up to now still have a broken stronger!
I haven't managed to get it fixed yet!
i HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND IT STILL DOES NOT REMEMBER PROGRAMS AND DISTORTING.
Do V-amp 3 behringer have battery compartments like V-amp 2...the adorpter pins AC in are fragile ..I have bought three adopters and one of the pins is stuck in the AC port..why have such a fragile AC system for a heavy duty component ..
